Restaurant Ava has opened in Rockwall, with a focus on local and American ingredients. Chef and co-owner Randall Copeland, who worked previously at Bolsa, Bradley Ogden in Las Vegas and the Green Room, is keeping it seasonal. Look for dishes such as chilled English pea soup with Maine shrimp ceviche, mint and crème fraîche; pan-roasted Windy Meadows chicken with spring onions, sugar snaps, quinoa and natural jus; and strawberry-rhubarb buckle.

Ava
Sunday 11-3 Brunch
5-close.
I guess it is great that so many people have money to waste on overpriced restaurants, $50.00 a person might be great except you are eating melon soup, collards and a single pork chop with peaches on it. Somewhere along the way someone took simple food, jazzed it up and hiked the price, instead of knowing you are being cheated people like you are eating lobster and steak. This restaurant serves food my grandmother cooked everyday for pennies on the dollar and you fools are paying out the nose for it.
I've eaten here twice with my wife (we even came from Dallas) and both times it was a fantastic experience! I disagree with Ms. Brenner on the sweetbreads. I thought they were incredible, not soggy at all. I will go as far to say that this little restaurant beats many of the "best" places in Dallas by far.
Service has never been a concern when I have dined here. They are attentive and very friendly and always willing to help.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. They have wonderful service, a reasonable and diverse wine list, and amazing food. Maybe Ms. Brenner didn't get it right this time.

There's so much to like about Ava, the charming restaurant Randall Copeland and Nathan Tate recently opened on this town's main drag. The dining room is airy and attractive, with a clean, contemporary look: exposed brick walls; high ceilings; moody, modern hanging lamps. (Full review)
