About 250 artists from around the country as well as from Europe and Canada will gather at Cottonwood Park for this biannual outdoor celebration of art. Which makes it a mecca for those looking for paintings, photographs, ceramics, sculptures, fiber art, woodwork, mixed-media works and jewelry (one of my favorites pieces is a necklace-and-earring set I had bought at the fest a couple of years ago). The fest’s footprint is big, and you’ll cover a lot of ground. Fuel up at the outdoor cafe on Cottonwood Lake and take a break to listen to live music from local and regional bands. Want some uninterrupted shopping? Send the kids off to ArtStop, a hands-on area for children with plenty to keep them busy, and dispatch hubby to watch them.
May 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cottonwood Park, on Belt Line Road one block east of Coit Road, Richardson. Free admission and parking.
