In 1990, three energetic and creative chefs, Hans Limburg, Gary Darling, and Greg Reggio, joined together to form an experienced culinary and restaurant development team. They named this collaboration the Taste Buds. The Taste Buds created Zea in 1997 with their first location in Harahan, La. Zea WoodFire Grill opened January 2006 in Plano, Texas. Zea WoodFire Grill has been voted one of the top ten new restaurants by City Search and has been featured in the Dallas Morning News and D Magazine.

The website for Zea Woodfire Grill describes this casual Plano spot as "Iron Chef America winner Kent Rathbun’s first foray into the management of other restaurant concepts." Unfortunately, the new concept here seems to be "not up to my usual standards." (Full review)
