Put together with deep knowledge and appreciation for one of the most revered (and missed) acts in hip-hop, Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest also provides insight into the group’s 1998 dissolution and subsequent tensions. Longer on passion and drama than reportorial detail, it’s still a worthy and welcome tribute to a towering original from a field now sadly known for flavors of the month.
