Three chefs, sick of eating frozen and factory-fabricated burgers, decided to quit their jobs to open a real burger joint and make everything from scratch. Hand-rolled meat patties, hand-cut Idaho and sweet potatoes, homemade ice-cream, homemade pickles and homemade Root Beer...even homemade ketchup, mustard and BBQ sauce!

We were visiting Dallas last week and one of my co-workers saw Twisted Root Burger on "Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins" So we had to check it out. OMG! We wet on 05/03 (a rainy night) had the place to ourselves, the staff was fantastic, the burgers were FREAKIN AWESOME! We had the best time, I had the buffalo burger with chillies. The burgers were tasty, the fried platter (pickles, string beans, etc.) were so different. A co-worker had the peaches and cream ice cream and raved about it, we all sampled. It was such a great experience, we went on Friday, bigger, louder crowd but still a great experience!
The Root is fabulous. Quirks and all. Yes it is busy. Yes it is loud. And no they wont take a togo order when they are slammed. It is okay guys! It's not personal. It's just their policy.
Freakin awesome burgers yall! Enjoy em! I can't wait for the new Twisted Root to open across from Barley House on Smu(Yale) Blvd next month!
Re Jesse_roy12- I would like to see your friend's email to the owner. ? Think that might be fair.
I have been to Twisted Root no less that 100 times, on purpose! I am so excited that they are expanding and have opened one in Richardson and one coming in Allen. Whoever is writing these bad reviews is CRAZY!!! I have always had fabulous service. Yes, it is busy most days, but why do you think that is? Because the food is wonderful! The sauces are good too. My favorite is the Horseradish Mustard and the Chipotle Ketchup. Give it a try, its delicious.
Wanted to check out what all the talk was about. Unfortunately went during the day. Screaming kids, sticky tables food all over the floor and a staff that seemed to careless. Perhaps it was the music cranked so high it rattled the barn yard tin walls. The bright sunlight revealed what a nasty hole in the wall this place really was. The food was nothing, a small over cooked greasy burger on some odd sesame seed bun. That gets shoved at you by a delightful cashier. Just another food pit, heavy on "tude" instead of the food.
After reading the previous review and the smart mouthed answer, we have decided to not visit this restaurant with our friends prior to going to the music hall this saturday. They don't want our business so we won't trouble them.
Read this:
A friend tried to call in a to go order to Twisted Root Burger Company. They basically told him that they were too busy to take his order so he wrote the owner because he thought he would like to know about the poor service he received. Look at the owners response:
“Yes, you are very right. It is very easy during busy times to make you and your kids to go items. We just didn't do it because we don't like making money. We hate success and making people happy. We enjoy turning down your money. Make sure you tell everyone that. With the amount of friends that an obviously polite and understanding person like yourself must have, I'm sure we will be out of business in no time flat. May I help you in your to go needs and direct you to McDonalds or Chili's which will be very happy to assist in your very important needs”.

Jason Boso and Quincy Hart rock the chef-driven burger concept with this rebellious Deep Ellum joint (look for a second location to open in Richardson's Eastside Centre development at Central Expressway and Campbell Road). The wide hand-pressed patties create a level playing field for a far-flung range of toppings. A current favorite combo: green chile, guac and pepper jack. We know we said this is a beef-only discussion, but if you like buffalo burgers, plant yourself at a table here. (Full review)
It's hard to walk into Twisted Root, the raucous burger joint in Deep Ellum, without thinking that it would be a really great place to bring your middle-school nephews – especially if they enjoy a couple of nice cold beers. Those would be root beers, of course, a house-made specialty here. (Full review)
