Start with an assortment of spreads and olives and move on to small plates at this stylish Lebanese-Moroccan boîte in West Village. The menu’s modest, skewing more toward Lebanese, but the Moroccan dishes, such as a sweet tomato spread and a chicken pastila cigar, are among the best. Tiny kebabs, kibbeh and a salad called moutabal du jardin are lovely, too. Light bites and terrific cocktails are easy here, but if you want a full dinner, best to request one of the larger tables. Full bar. Smoking area on the patio. After 9:30 p.m., hookahs are available.

The atmosphere is Moroccan chic, the cocktails are smashing, and the small plates — like a perfect meze platter, a gorgeous moutabal du jardin salad, a cigarlike spin on chicken bastila, wonderful kefta kebab and more — are not just beautifully prepared, but well-priced, to boot. As grazing ops go, it doesn’t get much better than Sam Benoikken and Yaser Khalaf’s alluring spot where Lebanon meets Morocco in West Village.

Walking into Baboush, a dreamy-looking boîte with the feel of one of the sexy, stylish riad hotels that are so chic right now in Morocco, is an instant mood changer. Slide into a banquette, if you can; it’s the best perch. Lean back against the pillows, order a cocktail and settle in to a laid-back evening of people watching and refined grazing. (Full review)
