Not much in the way of decor at this New York-style deli, the service can be problematic and the cooking is uneven, but the chicken soup with matzo balls and house-made rye bread are noteworthy. Gio’s brings in pastrami and corned beef from New York’s Carnegie Deli. No alcohol.

When Lisa and Spiro Gionnopoulos opened Gio’s Cafe and New York Deli about four months ago in the space vacated by Roaster’s, people started whispering: “They make a good chicken soup.”
I had to investigate, so a pal and I stopped by for a late lunch on a weekday. (Full review)
