*The Dallas Morning News has selected this location as one of the Top 100 Restaurants in D-FW.*
Bistecca alla fiorentina — Tuscany’s famous thick-cut grilled porterhouse steak — gives Alberto Lombardi’s Italian place its name. The restaurant had a makeover to make it more casual just a year after it opened, with a new menu, new chef and new general manager. The jury’s still out about how the new pieces all add up. Grilled porterhouse steak is still on the menu. Closed Monday. Dinner only on weekdays; brunch and dinner on weekends. Full bar.

Alberto Lombardi’s spirited Tuscan-style dining room has been something of a revolving door for chefs since it opened late last year, but there’s something so likable about its laid-back formality, stylish aperitivi and top-notch service. Pastas are not its strong suit, but a number of other dishes are among the best renditions in town — hot, crisp fritto misto (love those giant succulent shrimp); classic roasted branzino with just a drizzle of good olive oil and a sprinkling of flaky sea salt; pollo al mattone (chicken cooked in the under-a-brick style) with wickedly good, rosemary-scented olive-oil mashed potatoes. Beef lovers will enjoy the bistecca alla Fiorentina, even if it’s not as spectacular as the dish can be. (Full review)
Dallas, as anyone who’s been here more than five minutes knows, is a city that’s all about the good things in life. High fashion. Killer football. Dazzling architecture. Out-of-this-world steaks. (Full review)
