Eddie V's Prime Seafood

Since I reviewed it last June, the Dallas outpost of the Phoenix-based mini-chain has introduced a much more thoughtful and interesting menu. I love the new lobster taco appetizer — excellent handmade corn tortillas topped with large pieces of sweet, tender, well-dressed lobster meat, slices of ripe avocado, cilantro and a snappy grilled-corn pico de gallo. A creamy corn and crab chowder had just the right touch of bacon and chives. Some of the best main courses are simply prepared, perfectly cooked great-quality fish, such as a special of broiled Alaskan halibut. Gulf oysters are offered on the half-shell, along with a small selection of terrific North Atlantic oysters; lately the Wellfleets, Salt Ponds and Onset Bays were pristine and beautifully presented.
