Bob's Steak & Chop House

4300 Lemmon Ave., Dallas, TX, 75219
(214) 528-9446 - Venue Website

*The Dallas Morning News has selected this location as one of the Top 100 Restaurants in D-FW.*

Bob Sambol still manages the steakhouse he opened in 1993 and sold in 2009, and the original location is still the place for an outstanding prime steak — as long as the kitchen gets the temperature right. Bone-in Kansas City strips, T-bones and porterhouses are the signature cuts. Starters, sides and desserts are much less exciting. Full bar. Dinner only; closed Sunday.

Despite a change in ownership just over a year ago, the steakhouse, a longtime favorite hangout for titans of finance and sports, is as hot as it ever was. (Full review)

There's nothing like the original location of Bob's for soaking up Big D steak machismo and clubby atmosphere; this is the place to spot sports stars and politicos. (Full review)

Bob's is great!

I can tell you when me and my friends go to Bob's on Lemmon Avenue (or any other Bob's), the service has always been fantastic and the steaks come out hot and tasty. I am really there for the steaks and the clubhouse appeal (and maybe to see someone famous).

The one in Uptown is defintely the best, but all will do fine. If I have friends in from out of town, I sent to Bob's. Why?

Because it is a real steakhouse and not some foo foo faddy restaurant that happens to serve steaks along with a long list of "other foods to eat" tonight.

I'll be back soon.

I know why all the famous people go to the Original Bob's Steak & Chophouse on Lemmon

It was a very busy night for Super Bowl weekend and it was certainly the place to be seen at the original Bob's Steak & Chophouse on Lemmon Avenue in Dallas.

My friends and I dined on the massive 22 ounce KC Bone in and it was INCREDIBLE. The plate was so hot it never cooled down as I finished off every last bite.

The wine list was affordable, with a lot of very good choices (in my opinion)many under $100. We had a couple bottles of wine and the wine guy had us try a wine from Charles Woodson, called "24". It was awesome.

I can't wait to go back.

Fabulous Steak

I have tried all the new steakhouses in town, but I have to say, the original Bob's Steak and Chop House is just better.

I guess if you have been broiling steaks to perfection for 17 years, you must be doing something right.

Great Steak and Great Service

Over the past few months, having dined at Bob's on Lemmon several times, there seems to be a refreshing attitude in the food and service.

The steaks are always great, but some of the specials lacked in the past in my opinion. Last week, though, I had the opportunity to try Monchong. No, I had never had it before, but it was spectacular and they served it with a medley of veggies and a bacon dressing vinaigrette. Absolutely awesome!

The lobster bisque is one of the best in the city and the crab cakes were very traditional Maryland Styled crab cakes.

The last time we went into Bob's it was SUPER busy, but we found the service was attentive, enthusiastic and helpful which made our experience even that much better.

I love the 12 ounce stripmost of all served with the smashed potatoes and the Bob's famous carrot. Afterall, I am a steak snob.

Terrible Service

My wife and I went to Bob's for our special night out and let me tell you what a let down, slow, slow, slow service, appetizers that took 30 minutes to order because of the slow waitress appeared only minutes before the dinner arrived, wine and tea glasses unfilled until we asked a passing waiter for a refill. The food tasted like it had been sitting in a warming table, lukewarm and over cooked, when we told the waitress our steaks were overcooked she took them back to the kitchen and a few minutes later brought back the same steaks with sauce covering them thinking we would not know, I asked to speak to the manager, told him about the steaks and he gave me a story that our med well steaks were rare as we ordered them, having been a cook for 30 years and a brown steak with almost no pink it not rare it is med well, after a few minutes I told the manager he knew nothing about steak and we were not going to pay for that meal, he threatened me then backed down and we left.
If you want a great steak go to Pappas brothers steak house, Bobs is a terrible overrated place.

Can you rate lower than 1 star?

We decided on Bobs for our 10th Anniversary. When we arrived, they had our reservation and immediately sat us. This is where it all fell apart. The hostess took us to a table that still had stuff on it from the prior seating. Granted the table was being cleared. So we had to stand in the middle of the dining room for 5 minutes while the busboy cleared the table. When my wife went to sit down, she sat in food that stained her white pants. The busboy came back and decided he should clean the seats. After sitting down we realized that only one of the four place settings actually had silverware, napkins, and glasses. The busboy came back with the proper setup, constantly asking my wife and me to move so he could set the table. About 10 minutes after we arrived and were seated, our table was finally set and ready for use. 15 minutes later the server actually came to our table. Along the way someone, fortunately, had given us water and stale bread. The server showed up with a used tray of baked potato condiments and proceeded to set them in front of us. She told us she would be right back and whisked off. 5 minutes later she decided to show up again and wanted to take our order. No "hi", no drink order, no rundown of the specials just "can I take your order." Needless to say we walked out immediately. Every step of the way we kept thinking that this can't get any worse. Bob's had such a great reputation certainly we are misreading the situation. Finally, though, we had it and just could stomach dropping $300-500 for our special night on a restaurant that didn't seem to care. To make matters worse, we were seated in a room with plasma TVs playing ESPN Sports Center. Really? TVs? In the restaurant? With ESPN at a noticeable volume? Not even Outback or Salt Grass would stoop to that level! With so many positive reviews and friends recommendations we had such high hopes. But as the saying goes you have one chance to make a good impression. This was anything but a good impression. There are just too many upscale steak and chop houses in the Dallas area to have to live with this type of service.
