New restaurant in the mixed-use Illume development on Cedar Springs. Menu features upscale comfort food. Concept chef is Doug Brown (Beyond the Box catering, Sala Tex Mex), executive chef is Brian Sommers (Jasper's, Rick's Chophouse).
I just had the worst meal of my life here the other night. The chicken was raw and everything else we had was either underseasoned or WAY too salty. Service was not much better.
Food, service, and atmosphere were excellent!
Short ribs were fall off the bone tender and very flavorful.
Waiters were attentive but did not hover.
Enjoyed the experience from the moment I walked in the door.

It seemed like Tim McEneny's shiny new Oak Lawn restaurant, with its mod bar, LED-illuminated raised booths and recessed, color-changing crystal chandeliers, was hot from the moment it opened in November. It's a real see-and-be-seen vibe, which makes for fantastic people-watching. But McEneny paid proper attention to the basics, which makes Dish more than just the scene du jour. (Full review)
At what other sceney spot-du-moment can you get a steak for $17? That steak may be a workaday flat-iron rather than a dry-aged prime New York strip, but it's flavorful, well-seasoned, perfectly cooked – and it comes with a big cone full of excellent frites. (Full review)
