Geisha House (no relation to Geisha Steak and Sushi Lounge in Plano) has opened in Uptown at the Gables Villa Rosa. General manager Aron Arsen is a Kenichi alum and sake sommelier, and sushi chef Yoshi Marumoto did stints at Morimoto in New York and Sushi Samba. It looks sophisticated and chic, with a wall devoted to sake.
CLOSED: CLOSED: Geisha House
I finally took the time to visit Geisha House, and it was a great experience. I love sushi and especially dining at the sushi bar. My server tended to me wonderfully while I conversed with the sushi chefs. I was sat right in front of Nuke, and he basically created my menu. I had his special sashimi salad and his escolar roll he sends out on fire! He has many special, off the menu items, although I was not able to sample them all. He kept me well fed and entertained. The ambiance and staff in the restaurant is great!
Let me start off by saying that I am a big critic of sushi restaurants in Dallas. Being from California were I'm spoiled with the best. This place hands down is great sushi, service, and atmosphere is breath taking! We dinned at geisha house last Saturday and we started out in there lounge called the "Roppongi Bar" weird name but found out it's a district in Tokyo famous for were the clubs and night life scene. Then when our table was ready the beautiful hostess dressed in her kimono escorted us to the dinning. As we quizzed our server over menu he suggested we try doing a family style of dinning that way we could all share in a intimate dinning experience. He was right we had so much fun, and the food was great. He even cared our health due to allergies, and if we liked spicy foods. This place is setting the bar high for Asian restaurants in Dallas.
I went yesterday and loved it. Its beautiful. I had a king roll and filet and they were great. I stole a piece if my girlfriends Ropponge Roll and it was really good. They have a very big sake selection but I'm not a sake fan. I jumped into the wine list immediately. Their wine list really does needs some work. I know this is a sushi and sake joint but you just opened in Uptown. I am a bit critical on wines but i didnt like any of their wines by the glasses. They have a better by the bottle variety but not much better. You can get much better wines for the same price. But the service was great. She let us sample a couple of wines and made some great sushi suggestions. The sushi pricing seemed a little high but didn't cost me a limb as Nobu does. The wine pricing seemed high as well. I'll probably come by for happy hour soon. They have some good happy hour pricing.
This place is cool as hell. Their sushi was great and so was the service. They were so friendly and had a great dj. There were some seriously hot women eating at the bar. I mean stunning. Hitting it up for Happy Hour on Tuesday for sure.
I arrived at geisha house and was greeted by a very lovely woman wearing a kimono and thought the evening was off to great start. I couldn't have been more wrong! When we were seated we were swarmed by the staff, people tripping over themselves by fixing our chopsticks and placing our napkins in our laps, etc. Our server finally arrives and what a peculiar fellow. He looked like wolverine(from the movie) and sounded like Sylvester Stallone. He tried to guide us through the menu but, I didn't feel like he knew what he was talking about. I was a little imbarrased in front of my guests because it was a business dinner and I knew I was going to have to appologize for the lack of proffesionalism from the service we were receiving. Which was odd because the previous time that I had eatten here the service was perfect. The sushi arrives and I notice that our servers finger nails are filthy. Yuck! But, we eat anyway. The rolls and the sashimi were delicious, the sushi special that he suggested was outstanding. The entree's that we ordered were even better than the time before. All in all, the food was incredible! But, you can get good food all over town. Which leads me back to service. During our meal, a gentleman who had introduced himself as the general manager, interupped us twice, once with his introduction and a second time asking " would you care for another bottle of sake"? If i want another bottle of sake I will ask for another bottle of sake! All through dinner there were interuptions: would you care for more water? , more sake?, may i get that out of your way?. I have never had such obtrusive service! I feel that when I spend 300.00 dollars on four people, there should be a certain level of service. Which I did not get! People, go to Geisha House if you want good food. Don't expect good service and, most of all. Don't expect the "Wow" factor! Oh, and by the way, I lost that business deal and I blame my experience at Geisha House for that catastrope!
Swanky venue that will revolutionize the way Uptown views Teppanyaki (think upscale hibachi).
Thats just part of this equation. The sushi bar is headed up by NYC and Vegas veterans. Try Nuk's Flaming Roll...its on fire!!Literally.
The sake list is hands down tops in Texas...Kenichi eat your heart baby!
Our server, Mark helped us guide our way by creating a menu that would challenge Nobu's Omakase.
Whether its the "Just for the Halibut" sashimi dressed with yuzu citrus and sea salt, or Kobe (Waygu) Ishiyaki...you can not go wrong with allowing the savvy service staff to design a meal that keep you and your guest wanting more.
Dallas has elevated itself once again with another high quality sushi joint.
Geisha house is the new leader of the pack in Uptown sushi!!
By the way, The Roppongi Bar is gonna be huge when the secret gets out about their Happy Hour and Robata events.

Roppongi Bar: This luxuriously appointed new arrival is a singles bar wrapped in a restaurant –well, next to one, anyway. Separate from the Japanese eatery, the Roppongi Bar is abuzz with the slinky maneuverings of the young on the prowl, set to a thumping soundtrack by DJ Steve Nice on Mondays and one of the 12 Inch Pimps on Fridays and Saturdays. First impressions are important. And at Geisha House, the new Japanese restaurant in Gables Villa Rosa on Cedar Springs, the first impressions are seductive. Pull into the circular drive of the tony residential complex, and a valet swoops in. A lovely, kimono-clad hostess holds open the heavy door by way of welcome. A striking floor-to-ceiling sake display along the wall announces a serious commitment to rice wine. (Full review)
