Urbano Cafe has opened in East Dallas, next to Jimmy's Food Store. Owners Kristen and Mitch Kauffman are offering a menu similar to the one at their last venture, Urbano Paninoteca (which closed last year), with the addition of non-panino sandwiches served on crusty ciabatta, such as pulled pork with hoisin mayo and grilled steak with Gorgonzola and arugula. Panini, salads and pastas are on the menu too. The cafe has begun lunch service, with dinners planned and dinners were expected to start June 11. B.Y.O.B.

Charming, cute, stuffy, noisy, friendly, quirky and definitely original: That's Urbano, the tiny cafe tucked in a storefront between Jimmy's Food Store and Tom Spicer's produce shop F.M. 1410. It's BYOB, a real boon with Jimmy's just steps away. (Full review)
Hey, let's open a restaurant – we can do it right here on the block! Judy'll make the costumes, and hey, Mickey, you can cook! That's the feeling at Urbano Cafe, the modest place that Kristen and Mitch Kauffman opened in early June after shuttering their popular Uptown spot, Urbano Paninoteca. (Full review)
