THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED

Soul food, pure and simple, with outstanding meatloaf, whipped potatoes and greens flavored with smoked turkey. Po-Bill is owner LaWainna Patterson’s dad, a former basketball player with the Harlem Magicians, who’s often on hand and usually makes the chicken and dumplings on Tuesdays. It’s steam-table, cafeteria-style service, with changing daily offerings, including smothered pork chops, oxtails, blackened chicken wings and more.

If everything matched the glory that is meatloaf at Po-Bill's Cafe, success would be a slam dunk for this Deep Ellum soul-food restaurant. Before it's even served, the meatloaf starts to crumble into its rich, tomato-and-pan-juices gravy infused with a sly pepper kick. Neither dense nor heavy, the meatloaf is light and moist as a cake. This is the place to go!!! I love Po-Bill's Cafe. The food is excellent, great service and the southern hospitality is out of this world! You are made to feel at home the moment you walk in. This is Dallas' best kept secret...oh!, did I just tell everyone? Good...go get your grub on!

The best soulfood I have EVER had?

Po-Bill's Cafe is the best soulfood I have EVER had? Is it the best in Texas, umm probably so. I was with my BFFlast week & we decided we needed to check out new soul food restaurant in town...

Cafeteria style dining at its best. Sitting in the Po-Bills, you can feel the energy of the traditional south. It was a diverse mix of ppl, and the conversations vary, but at the end of the day, it feels like "home".

The fried chicken does something unreal to me. Like they have batter "inside" the chicken...no seriously, inside the chicken. All the old favorites are there, Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, Cabbage. Unlike most I havent abandoned pork. Thank God, I havent, because you can get some of the best pork chops known to man in The Beautiful.

They do breakfast as well, but I think your best bet with The Beautiful is lunch or dinner. Make sure you bring a pillow, cuz that azz will need a nice nap shortly there after.
