Nuestra Pastorela: A Mexican Holiday Tradition...with a twist

Cara Mía Theatre Company’s Nuestra Pastorela manages to be both sublime and silly. This retelling of the Christmas story from the shepherds’ point of view is quite reverent when it comes to the Holy Family itself. But it follows a millennium-long tradition of making the shepherds clowns – and adding some very incompetent and outrageously funny devils who try to keep them from finding the stable and its manger. Even small children are amused, and everyone goes home with a lighter heart.
