Magnolia Theatre in the West Village is dedicating a full week to what’s billed as the South’s largest Asian and Asian-American cinematic showcase, presented by Well Go USA Entertainment and McDonald’s. At the 10th annual fest, fans will be able to attend receptions and meet filmmakers and special guests, in addition to viewing more than 30 films. The films include new releases, as well as classics and inaugural festival favorites. The opening night film is Shaolin, which begins at 7 p.m. tonight, directed by Benny Chan and starring Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Nicholas Tse and Bingbing Fan. Other films of note include Love in a Puff, a romance from Hong Kong; Seven Samurai, directed by famed filmmaker Akira Kurosawa; and the closing night Japanese crime drama, Outrage.
Friday through July 21, beginning daily at noon at Landmark’s Magnolia Theatre, 3699 McKinney Ave., Suite 100, Dallas. General ticket prices range from $7 to $12.
