Talk about an artist who makes the most of his material. James Magee has fashioned contemporary sculpture and collages from iron, glass, concrete, wax, enamel, brake fluid, shellac, car parts, roof panels and even hibiscus, honey and paprika. He has been known to scavenge the landfills and trash bins of El Paso and Juarez, Mexico, in search of the proper ingredients for art. And now he comes to Dallas for his first major museum exhibition in 18 years. This Saturday, admission is free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and there’ll be a free 3 p.m. lecture featuring art experts Richard R. Brettell and Joachim Pissarro.
