Blue Mesa Grill

7700 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX, 75225
(214) 378-8686 - Venue Website

Very good upscale Southwestern cuisine and a fine tequila bar keep Blue Mesa at the top of the charts year after year.
"We love your Sweet Potato Chips” is how many of our loyal guests described Blue Mesa in a survey. Sometimes little things say it all. Hand cut sweet potato chips. Sweet and crispy with a touch of chile. Colorful as the Southwest. Unique to Blue Mesa. That’s who we are. So whether you say, “I love your sweet potato chips, your Red Chile Salmon, your Jalapeno Relish, your Sunday Brunch, your Blue Margarita, or your Sweet Corn Cake,” we hope you share our passion for our food.

Blue Mesa’s Tequila Bar has received the regional 2008 Santé Restaurant Award for Spirits Hospitality. Over 100 tequilas. Each month we feature a tequila distillery – from the well known to the boutique. The tequila is featured in our Top Shelf Margarita made with Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, organic Agave Nectar and fresh squeezed lime juice (and nothing else!). Each month we also feature a fresh fruit margarita reflecting our commitment to only using fresh fruit in our bar. Starting in 2009, our fresh fruit will be sourced from local Texas farms – from Ruby Red grapefruit, to Meyer lemons, watermelon and plums. Our 2nd Tuesday Party celebrates the featured distillery – offering free tastes and discounted fresh fruit margaritas. Monthly tequila dinners offer a unique Blue Mesa four course menu. Of course, Blue Mesa’s Original Blue Frozen Margarita is always available and adds to our great Happy Hour. And our complimentary Quesadilla Bar adds to the fun. Blue Mesa’s Tequila Bar is a great place to meet friends and enjoy the best tequilas in town!

Blue Mesa Grill's third area location, in an upstairs space in Lincoln
Center next to NorthPark Mall, is a big risk. Upstairs restaurants are a
dime a dozen in rent-driven, space-essential New York City, but here in
ranch-happy, wide-open Texas, they're practically nonexistent. (Full review)

Snotty Manager and Terrible food

My wife and I had been hearing great things about Blue Mesa, trust me when I say they may be the most over rated restaurant in Dallas. I had been bedridden for three weeks after surgery and was itching to go somewhere, my wife called in the reservation with me sitting in the room when she did it, my walk was a slow shuffle since my surgery so my wife dropped me off at the door, I ambled slowly up to the lady at the front podium and told her the name, she looked at the list and snapped, there is no reservation under that name, I told her we did have a reservation and to look again, she looks on the list and snaps (louder this time) there is no reservation, my wife walks in about this time and reminds the lady there was a reservation and she made it, the lady (in a very loud and abusive voice) O, I remember now you called and cancelled it, my wife see’s I am getting pissed off and asks to speak to the manager, the lady almost yells, I AM THE MANAGER. My wife told the manager we better get a table or I am going to contact your home office and channel 8 about you being a lying ass. We got our table and my wife suddenly realized why we had such a problem and it the way I looked, my stomach was still a little swollen from the surgery plus I shuffled when I walked with my head down because of the pain, from the managers views I must have looked like a drug addict, that shouldn’t make any difference as long as I didn’t cause trouble and could pay my bill. On the food, someone from this company decided to fancy up Mexican food and charge a lot for it, $8.50 for guacamole that tasted like the avocados were old, nachos that used what tasted like store bought tortillas with stale chicken, Blue Crab & Shrimp Enchiladas that tasted old like it had been sitting around, Blue Corn Chile Relleno & Chicken Enchilada’s with a weak watery sauce. It is a sad thing when the best thing on the meal is the sweet potatoes chips. The manager never once came to our table or asked how the meal was or if she could pick up the check. My wife contacted the company with our problem but they never answered back. The company that owns Blue Mesa does not care about customers and only wants to sell terrible overpriced food.
1 out of 5 starts because I have never been to a 0 restaurant.
