Pyrotechnics firm Fireworks by Grucci has put on fireworks shows for presidential inaugurations, Olympic Games and the Statue of Liberty centennial. Now it’s preparing a show for Fair Park Fourth, a family-friendly event presented by Friends of Fair Park. You can hear music choreographed to the fireworks at the Cotton Bowl or broadcast on WRR-FM (101.1). Other highlights include a patriotic program featuring the Dallas Wind Symphony and music by gymnast-turned-singer Carly Patterson, free admission to several Fair Park museums and Texas Discovery Gardens, children’s activities and vendors selling Fourth of July food favorites.
Fireworks and patriotic music: Gates to the Cotton Bowl open at 7 p.m. (enter at Gate A). Music program featuring the Dallas Wind Symphony, Carly Patterson, the Hellcats bugle and drum ensemble from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and baritone Alvy Powell at 8. Fireworks about 9:30.
Museums: Get in free from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Women’s Museum, the Museum of the American Railroad, the Museum of Nature & Science (the “Science of Spying” exhibit and the Imax theater are not free), the African American Museum and Texas Discovery Gardens. Texas Discovery Gardens will host live music from 4 to 7 p.m.
