As a boy named Bastian begins to read a mysterious book, he begins to wonder if he can influence the outcome of the events he is reading about in The Neverending Story, a production by Dallas Children's Theater at Rosewood Center for the Performing Arts. A mix of actors and puppets portray the fantastical characters he meets when he finally dares to step into the pages of the book to see if he can help save Fantastica and become the hero he has always wanted to be. The Neverending Story has long been a rallying call for fantasy fans. For those who love to sojourn in the world of dragons and heroes and epic battles of good against evil, Michael Ende's 1979 book turned 1985 film, now in a stage adaptation at Dallas Children's Theater, is essentially a justification that we are not wasting time with childish things.
