“Willie Doherty: Requisite Distance” is an exhibition of works, organized by the DMA, by an artist from Northern Ireland. The New York Times describes it as “one of those little gems of a show … an original curatorial effort presenting a body of new work by a major artist.” The show brings together Doherty’s "Ghost Story," a 15-minute video work recently acquired for the DMA’s collection. The show also includes 11 photographs from Ireland and Northern Ireland in the 1990s. "Ghost Story," according to DMA officials, creates “a masterful cinematic tale of quiet suspense whose evocative text (written by Doherty himself) is narrated by the renowned Irish actor Stephen Rea.”
