The exhibition, which will open Mar. 28 at the African American Museum, explores the achievements of Carver in his roles as a scientist, conservationist, educator and humanitarian. Carver was a proponent of agricultural sustainability. He's quoted as having said that his primary idea was "to help the farmer and fill the poor man's empty dinner pail." More than 100 artifacts from Carver's personal life and work will be displayed, along with videos, a diorama of Carver's childhood farm and a re-creation of Carver's mobile classroom called the Jesup wagon. The exhibit is organized by the Field Museum of Chicago, in collaboration with Tuskegee University and the National Park Service. The exhibit will run through Oct. 25.
