Reba McEntire

Still youthful and viable at 54, and boasting a career that spans 34 years, Oklahoman Reba McEntire can certainly be called country-music royalty.
Not only has she managed to survive in what is decidedly a man’s genre, but she’s taught more than a few good old boys about perseverance, business savvy and just plain chutzpah. McEntire’s latest CD, Keep on Loving You, includes a pair of great songs — the mother’s revenge anthem “Maggie Creek Road” and the sassy swing number “I’ll Have What She’s Having.”
Let’s hope she does those during her concert performance at the new Allen Event Center. McEntire christens the $52.6 million venue, which seats 8,100, Nov. 6. In North Texas, if you’re going to open a new entertainment facility in grand style, you might as well get a country-music superstar. Reba McEntire more than qualifies.
