With decor that evokes a seafood shack on the Jersey shore, Chris Papageorge’s warm, friendly spot is a haven for Maine lobster lovers, who go for 1-pound culls — lobsters missing one claw — at bargain prices. (Skip the big lobsters; if you’re hungry get “twins” or ask for an extra claw.) There’s a fine lobster bisque to start with, along with good, crisp salads and garlicky steamed clams. Fish specials often satisfy, too. Don’t miss the Key lime pie. Full bar.

One-clawed lobsters are the Maine event at Chris Papageorge’s friendly seafood spot in Addison. (Full review)
With red walls, whitewashed trim, trophy fish on the wall, black-and-white photos of pals at the beach and lobster traps suspended from the ceiling (neon lobsters swim inside), Lefty’s feels like a seafood shack on the Jersey shore. Warm and welcoming (and the bartender mixes a good martini), the convivial, casual spot is the place for culls — lobsters that are missing a claw (they’re “lefties”). Lefty’s nails the steaming time, and the lobsters are sweet, tender and well-priced ($21.95 for a 1-pounder, $36.95 for two 1-pounders; all come with a baked potato and vegetable). If you decline to have your lobster split, there’s no funny business — a server shows up with a plastic bib and cracker, and you’re in business. Garlicky steamed clams are a good way to start (better than the chowder, which goes too light on the clams). Lefty’s does well with specials, like cornmeal-crusted pan-fried butterfish topped with crab. Coconut cream pie is a swell way to finish. (Full review)
